 The Best Festival Yet

A beautiful day for a party and we’re still feeling the love from the second annual Open Door Pride Festival and the first-ever Open Door Pride Week!  Saturday, June 23rd, was an amazing day filled with pride, love, and a true feeling of community. Throughout the day, we estimate that 500 people took part in our celebration.  See highlights on our youtube channel.  A special thank you goes out to Dennis and Mary Productions for their efforts in documenting this great event. A notable proud moment was Sturgeon Bay council members Barbara Allmann and Laurel Hauser, including Door County Supervisor Megan Lundahl, who joined us on stage for the presentation of the Sturgeon Bay Proclamation of Open Door Pride week.

Events leading up to the Festival were also well received including the great success of the t-shirt screening at the

Maker’s Space.  Thank you to our logo designers Nancy Aten and Dan Collins, for sharing their time and expertise at Maker’s Space as well as the Festival.

There were so many contributions and support from our stakeholders and volunteers, too many to mention everyone.

A big thank you to those who  gave your time, donated space for our events, contributed money or gift certificates, lent your artistic talent, and so much more. The Open Door Pride committee is so grateful for your support!

Sandy Brown Receives First Honor Award

At the Open Door Pride Festival, the first Open Door Pride  Visionary Award for significant contributions to the LGBTQ community was awarded to Sandy Brown for her work in PFLAG, the Door County Chapter started by her in 1995.. The award was designed and created by Popelka Trenchard Glass

As a member of many organizations, Sandy has brought LGBTQ issues to the discussion and has been an advocate and friend to many in the community. Sandy embodies the spirit of inclusion and contribution to an open life of the community, thus Open Door Pride has named this annual honor The Sandy Brown Award.
