SUMMARY:What's My Pride?
DESCRIPTION:The What’s My Pride? Project returns to Articipation Gallery for the entire month of June\, featuring 20 striking images selected through a community nomination process. This interactive exhibit celebrates the stories\, identities\, and expressions of LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies across Door County. \nThe gallery will also showcase 10 custom skateboards designed by Sturgeon Bay High School students—each one a unique artistic expression of Pride. These boards are part of a silent auction benefiting Open Door Pride and will be on display throughout June before moving to Martin Park for the Pride Festival on June 28\, when bidding will close. \nVisitors are encouraged to participate by writing their own Pride sentiments on chalkboards available during gallery hours. Snap a selfie at our chalkboard station and become part of the exhibit! (Photo release required.) \nThe exhibit kicks off with an Opening Night Celebration on Sunday\, June 1\, from 3:00–6:00 PM\, where you can meet featured participants\, enjoy refreshments\, and experience the energy of Pride in person. \nSpecial thanks to our sponsors\, Avenue Art & Co and Carri Busse of Shorewest Realty\, as well as to Articipation Gallery for generously hosting this powerful community project.

SUMMARY:“Seek To Understand” a Panel Community Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Open Door Pride invites you to Seek to Understand\, a free community conversation taking place on Thursday\, June 19\, at 6:30 PM at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. This immersive event is designed to educate and equip residents\, business owners\, and allies across Door County with the tools to better respond to today’s social and political climate. \nThe evening will explore four vital issues impacting our community through short presentations followed by Q&A. Topics include: \n– The Black experience in Door County \n– The trans experience and trans education \n– How to be an effective advocate and ally for the LGBTQIA+ community \n– Education on rights and protocols related to current immigration laws and ICE enforcement \nEach section will run 20–30 minutes total\, with a 10–15 minute presentation followed by time for open dialogue. Presenters are local leaders and educators\, making this event especially relevant and accessible for the Door County community. \nOur goal is to foster a welcoming environment where even those who don’t typically attend these conversations feel encouraged to listen\, learn\, and engage.
