Executive Board

Open Door Pride is a 501 C-3 non-profit organization that is 100% volunteer. All the funds we receive go directly to our events and initiatives.

Cathy Grier is a singer songwriter, blues guitarist, social activist, who moved to Sturgeon Bay in 2016 from NYC, after collaborating at the annual Steel Bridge Song Festival. Amazed that there was no Pride in Door County, she sought out other LGBTQ+ community members and allies, and Open Door Pride was formed in 2017. She spearheads the annual Open Door Pride Proclamation from the City of Sturgeon Bay, and helped to create such ODP initiatives as What’s My Pride?, the Ribbon Project, Sandy Brown Award. Besides touring with her band the Troublemakers, she lives in Sturgeon Bay year round with her poodle Lily, and can be found often in her garden or performing at such notable locations as Door Community Auditorium and Martin Park.

Vice Chair

Michael Meulemans ~ michaelm@opendoorpride.org

Michael comes to the board with over 23 years living in Door County.  Invested in the community, he has served on the Destination Sturgeon Bay board, the Baileys Harbor Community Association board as President, and was on the Parks Committee for the Town of Baileys Harbor.  In that time, he has co-developed the Tall ship Festival in Sturgeon Bay and started the Baileys Harbor Farmers Market to just name a few things.  For his love of flowers, he owns and runs Design Door County in between managing the bar at Harbor Fish Market & Grille.   Michael lives in Baileys Harbor with his husband Doug Smith.  Together they have made many milestones in the community by being the first gay couple to be married in Door County.  They both also produce a free to the community drag show called Mirrorball every year.
